Marc Beneteau, Master Luthier

Marc Beneteau is an internationally celebrated luthier who has been custom making acoustic guitars for over thirty years. He works alone to have absolute control over his entire process. His instruments are true works of art and are in the hands of some of the world's best players - Don Ross  has been playing Marc's guitars exclusively since 1997. Here Marc is playing his 750th guitar and also the very first guitar he made (circa 1974). The 750th is a feast for the eyes: an M model cutaway with Flamed Granadillo back and sides, Alaska Sitka Spruce top, Venetian cutaway, an arm rest bevel, ebony bindings and head veneers, and a side soundport hole. This spectacular instrument is currently for sale. Feel free to contact Marc through his website if you're interested in purchasing it. Truly one-of-a-kind.

In a world of mass-produced, disposable consumer products, Marc's work stands as a testament to the quality and depth of character that independent, hand-made goods deliver. His well-worked, scarred and chapped hands, are a striking contrast to the glass-like sheen of his guitars. Check out his website for more examples of his work, and keep supporting independent makers of all goods as much as you can. beneteauguitars.com
